SPCA hosts free dog dipping day

SPCA goes out of their way to care for township dogs.

Randfontein and Westonaria SPCA together with the State Veterinarian and Supreme Pet held a free dipping day in Mohlakeng on Friday (27 March).

“We don’t frequently get this much volunteers, so we thought we would put them to good use,” said Janette Muller, inspector for the Randfontein and Westonaria SPCA.

One such volunteer was State veterinarian, Jason Mpofu who patiently gave dogs rabies and 5-in-1 injections and sent them off for a dip. Each owner who went through this process with their dogs received a bag of Supreme Pet dog food.

Earlier in the day the SPCA gave away second hand colors that were sponsored by the public. An unexpectedly large amount of community members came and they soon ran out of collars and deworming kits.

The SPCA who solely relies on sponsorship asks the public to contribute to their cause. They are aiming to have a free community dog dipping day in different communities every three months.
