Planned power outage to affect multiple areas next Tuesday

A six-hour planned outage at the Drowel Substation next Tuesday will leave several areas without electricity while maintenance work is carried out.

Residents and businesses supplied by the Drowel Substation are advised of a planned power outage scheduled for Tuesday, May 26, from 08:00 to 14:00.

According to Rand West City Local Municipality spokesperson Phillip Montshiwa, the outage is necessary to allow for the safe installation of new feeder cables behind the switchgear at the substation.

“The current setup poses a safety risk, and two medium-voltage breakers must be switched off to allow the work to be completed safely,” he said.

During this time, all areas supplied by the substation will experience a temporary power interruption.
