Couple awakened by three burglars

'The victim investigated, only to be confronted by the barrel of a firearm.'

A couple in Mohlakeng had a rude awakening when three burglars entered their house early one morning.

According to Captain Appel Ernst, spokesperson for the Randfontein Police, “The incident took place on Friday 8 May around 4.30am.

“It is alleged a 59-year-old man and his wife was asleep when they were woken by a hammering on the door. The victim investigated, only to be confronted by the barrel of a firearm.

“The suspects, three men, entered the house and took valuables, then fled the scene.

“The victim tried to stop the suspects when one of the suspects took out a knife and stabbed the victim in the hand. The victim did, however, not sustain serious injuries.”

Warrant officer Bongani Mpete is investigating the case and would appreciate any information regarding the suspects.
