Bully saga: Involved pupils suspended

'The victim has already started with trauma counseling for which the school is carrying the expense'

The Principal of Laerskool Randfontein (Ram) has released a statement in which he gives the outcome of the disciplinary hearing following a video of bullying at the school emerging on Youtube.

Watch the first video here:

According to the principal, Leon Haupt, the disciplinary hearing was led by an independent chairperson along with the school’s management and members of the school governing body last Wednesday.

“The harshest possible punishment, expulsion, was the panel’s decision for the three main culprits,” he said.

This recommendation has been sent to the Department of Education for approval and the pupils were suspended in the meanwhile.

“The victim has already started with trauma counseling for which the school is carrying the expense,” Haupt said.

All learners involved in the incident will now undergo compulsory anti-bullying workshops.
