Thieves’ plan down the toilet

Police: They intended to sell them.

Two suspects with ages raging from 23 and 24 years were arrested by Bekkersdal Police after they were found in possession of a toilet flushing system.

It is suspected the system was stolen from a nearby mine.

Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, Linkie Lefakane said the incident occurred on Wednesday 14 October.

“It is alleged at about 5pm a police officer was conducting his normal investigation duties when he came across two men carrying a toilet flushing system.

He stopped them to enquire about those items as he suspected they might be stolen. The men could not be able to account and later told the officer they got the flushing systems from a nearby mine but could not say exactly if the system were given to them.

“After investigating it was found those systems were stolen and the men intended to sell them. They were later arrested for being in possession of stolen property and appeared before Westonaria Magistrates’ Court a day later.”
