Early Christmas gift for motorists

Motorists will be jumping of joy all the way to petrol pumps after the new fuel price came into effect as of today (Wednesday 4 November).

The pump price of all grades of petrol, the whole sale price of both grades of diesel, the maximum retail price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and the prices of illuminating paraffin has been decreased.

According to the Department of Energy, the main reasons for the fuel price decreases in November are the strengthening of the rand against the dollar and the drop in the prices of all petroleum products during the period under review.

South Africa’s fuel prices are adjusted on a monthly basis as determined by various international and local factors.

Based on current local and international factors, the fuel prices for November are:

• Petrol (93 Octane) will decrease by 22 cents/litre;

• Petrol (95 Octane) will decrease by 22 cents/litre;

• Diesel (0.05 per cent Sulphur) will decrease by 9 cents/ litre;

• Diesel (0.005 per cent Sulphur) will decrease by 10 cents/ litre;

• Illuminating paraffin (SMNRP) will decrease by 3 cents/litre;

• Illuminating paraffin (wholesale) will decrease by 2 cents/litre;

• Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) will decrease by 47 cents/kg.

The Department of Energy urged motorists and all households to continue using paraffin and LPGas sparingly during these difficult economic conditions.
