Mayor assists promising student

Tshepo Molefe, 21, currently studying Human Resources at Tshwane University of Technology, received a laptop from Randfontein Executive Mayor, Councillor Mzi Khumalo last Friday.

Tshepo, who resides in Mohlakeng, requested help from the mayor for a laptop which was much needed in his studies.

“In my first year, my results were poor, due to the lack of required study tools. Since I was one of the lucky students that received a bursary from Randfontein Local Municipality, I inquired if there was any chance that they could assist me,” Tshepo said.

On receiving the news that his request was successful, Tshepo added, “I was overwhelmed and very happy. The day finally arrived where I knew everything is going to change.

I know this is an opportunity not everybody gets. I will ensure that I pass this coarse with distinction.”

Khumalo in a statement said, “Education is a priority at Randfontein Local Municipality. With our Educational trust, we were able to give 87 students bursaries.

“We have a social responsibility towards the youth to help them get a good education. We will be monitoring the students who received bursaries, to insure that we have invested in the right individuals.

“We wish Tshepo all the best in his studies. After completing his studies, we expect him to plough back to his community by executing his expertise in some way.”
