The Randfontein men and women in blue rid the streets of 136 suspects in just 14 days.
The cleanup took place during the last 14 days of March.
It is the highest number of arrests made regarding contact-related crimes such as assault in one go according to Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson.
“Property-related crimes such as theft, housebreaking and shoplifting also featured prominently,” Ernst said.
She added that drunken driving, possession of drugs and stolen property were made as well.
It also needs to be mentioned the security companies in our town are actively involved in bringing criminals to justice.
“They are commended for their efforts,” she said.
Randfontein Police Station Commander, Brigadier Mashole Joseph Manamela, also congratulated every person who was involved in the arrests and for every person who puts ridding the streets of crime at the highest priority.
“Together we can make Randfontein a safe and secure town in which we can raise our children without fear,” Manamela said.
