The Randfontein Police encourage residents to report drug dealing in their area.
This after a resident of Raven Street in Greenhills who wishes to remain anonymous for her and her family’s protection told the Herald about two drug deals having taken place right in front of her home in the past two weeks.
Anybody witnessing these illegal transactions should take down the suspect’s vehicle registration number, or make sure they would be able to identify the suspect and report it to the Randfontein Police,” said Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson.
The resident, who only moved to Greenhills recently said the first incident took place on the weekend of 15 April. At around 7.30pm, she was watching television with her two daughters, aged 7 and 12. Her husband went outside to make sure everything was locked. While he was picking up an object the dog had played with near a shrub close to their boundary wall, he heard people whispering on the other side of the wall.
He became suspicious and when he heard “crystal meth”, he realised a drug deal was taking place. He wanted to confront the suspects, but the rustling of the shrub scared them off. All he could see was a man and two teenage girls scattering.
On the second occasion, Friday 22 April, at around 10.30am, the woman’s mother-in-law who lives with them saw a woman with a young child meeting a man right in front of their premises.
The woman seemed nervous. After she and the man clearly had made an exchange, she walked away looking around, seemingly to see if anybody was watching them.
The family warns all residents about these suspects and drug deals in Raven Street.
