Local police have opened an inquest docket after a decomposed body was recently found in the open veld between Westgold Primary School and the Randfontein dump site.
Police said pedestrians discovered the body at about 12.30pm on Thursday, 2 March.
“The body was in a badly decomposed state and only forensic examination will determine the race and gender of the deceased. The cause of death is also unknown as a result of the decomposition,” said Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police’s spokesperson.
She continued, “The remains were removed to a government mortuary for the necessary forensic investigation.”
