WANTED: Attempted murder suspects

Police launch manhunt for persons who shot a man, leaving him in a critical condition.

Bekkersdal Police have launched a manhunt for the suspect(s) who shot a 32-year-old man in the area. The seriously wounded victim is in hospital.

Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, confirmed that a case of attempted murder is being investigated.

She said the incident took place at about 7pm on Monday, 5 June.

“Police were patrolling around the informal settlement when they received a complaint about an attempted murder. At the alleged scene of the incident, they found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds, but no-one could tell them what had happened. He was later transported to hospital.

The motive for the attack is still unknown to the police.

“The suspects are still on the loose. We urge the community to come forward with information that might assist in the investigation. We are also appealing to the community not to try to apprehend the suspects as they are deemed armed and dangerous.”
