Four armed robbers rob local scrap metal company

Four men, armed with knives, a grass cutter and an axe target scrap metal company in Aureus.

The 27-year-old manager of a scrap metal company in Steyer Street, Aureus, and his colleagues, were targeted by armed robbers recently.

It is alleged that just as they about to close the gates to the premises at about 8.30pm on Friday 21 July, four unknown men, armed with knives, a grass cutter and an axe, confronted them.

According to the Randfontein Police spokesperson, Captain Appel Ernst, the suspects demanded money, copper, the manager’s laptop and car keys. She added that the victims’ hands were tied and the suspects ransacked the premises.

The manager of the company sustained injuries to his foot and head. The suspects eventually fled, taking with them a number of cellphones, keys and cash.
