A 45-year-old woman from Bekkersdal was arrested for being in possession of a suspected stolen plasma TV.
It is believed she bought it from an unknown man for R700.
According to Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, Constables Ngobeni Khanye were conducting their normal sector policing duties when they received information about a woman in possession of a plasma TV that was suspected to be stolen property.
“They proceeded to the address and upon arrival found the woman with the TV. She confirmed that she had bought it from the unknown man,” said Lefakane.
The woman was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property.
Colonel Mbangwa Nkhwashu, Bekkersdal Police Station commander was not only very pleased with the arrest – he was thrilled that the community had shared information that led to an arrest.
The police want to thank the community for the good relationship they have with the community and urge everyone to not buy potentially stolen property, because it creates a market for criminals.
