Man arrested for possessing ‘Nyaope’

Man in his 30s pulled over in Bekkersdal and arrested for substance suspected to be Nyaope.

A 30-year-old suspect was recently arrested for being in possession of drugs suspected to be Nyaope, Bekkersdal Police said.

The arrest occurred in Johnson Street, Bekkersdal.

According to Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, “It is alleged police member Seargent Matthews Seletisha was conducting his routine patrol duties when he noticed a suspiciously looking person and he stopped the vehicle. Seargent Seletisha then requested to search him. In his pocket he found a match box containing a brown substance suspected to be Nyaope.”

He was immediately arrested and already made a brief appearance in the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court.
