Shocking: Young mother strangles her newborn baby to death

Police: The reasons for these sad turn of events are currently under investigation.

Randfontein Police are investigating a case of murder after a mother allegedly strangled her newborn baby to death.

The incident happened on Sunday, 12 November in the Bundu Inn informal settlement.

Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson said, “It is alleged a 26-year-old woman gave birth to a baby boy at the informal settlement.

The new mother then allegedly turned on the baby and strangled him. She was taken to a local hospital shortly after the incident since she needed medical attention.

“The reasons for these sad turn of events are currently under investigation,” said Ernst.
