A night to remember

Despite heavy rainfall during the event, the spirits of the guests attending were not dampened and the festivities continued around the fires of the barbecues until midnight.

On 8 December 2017 an event called ‘Kuier om die Kole’ was hosted by Living Links Wellness at the Greenhills Hall in Randfontein.

The event was aimed at offering the local community an opportunity to host their end-of-year functions for friends or colleagues. This evening included entertainment from a local artist, Franna, entertainment for the children and everything needed to have a barbecue. Local businesses such as Mapogo A Mathamaga Security made use of the opportunity to join in and end 2017 in a positive atmosphere.

Despite heavy rainfall during the event, the spirits of the guests attending were not dampened and the festivities continued around the barbecue fires until midnight. Groups of people were seen outside the hall enjoying each other’s company whilst reliving the events of the past year. Inside, guests were showing off their finest dance moves encouraged by the music supplied by Franna whilst children were enjoying the jumping castle and soft play area for the toddlers.

“Apart from lifting the spirits of the local community, the event was also aimed at offering children from local places of safety, such as Just in Time Baby Sanctuary and Door of Care and Safety to join in the fun of receiving presents from Santa.

Children placed with these facilities joined in the festive cheer and were treated to presents, wonderful entertainment and “braaivleis”.

“Living Links Wellness regards these two organisations as their main beneficiaries and will continue to include them in any future events aimed at supporting them to offer places of safety to children in need of care and protection,” said Sandri Appel, director of Living Links Wellness.

The organisation endeavours to promote wellness in Randfontein and surrounding areas by offering professional services, which include private social services, health care services and employee wellness services. A highlight for this practice during 2017 was the establishment of the Living Links Wellness Foundation, which is aimed at raising funds to offer services to adults and children in need. It is the aim of the practice to continue to raise funds for this purpose as part of the service offered to the community which will also make provision for the children associated with Just in Time Baby Sanctuary and Door of Care and Safety.
