On 17 October the woman, who was arrested on 6 June, appeared for a bail application. She was granted R10 000 bail, under certain conditions.
She then reappeared in the Regional Court on 31 October, with the 34-year-old man who was arrested first. He was denied bail on 14 June.

On Thursday, 1 June, Kotze’s remains were found in a shallow grave on a plot in Pelzvale. Forensic experts spent numerous hours exhuming the body, which was transported to the Roodepoort Government Mortuary for the post mortem.
Evidence found on the scene suggested that the body was that of the 63-year-old man who had been reported missing in that area on 28 April this year.
