A 42-year-old man was arrested by Bekkersdal detectives over the weekend for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm.
“It is alleged that detective Constable Skhumbuzo Myeni received information about a person in possession of a firearm.
The member followed up on the information with help from detective Constable Nhlanhla Ngobeni, which led to the arrest on Sunday,” said Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson.
The suspect could also not show police a licence for the firearm.
