JUST IN: Man found dead a day after fight

Fist-fight victim found dead early this morning.

The body of a 35-year-old man was found on a farm on the N14 road in Brandvlei, a day after he was involved in a physical fight with another man, local police said.

The victim’s brother contacted the Herald this morning. Upon calling the Randfontein Police for more information, their spokesperson, Captain Appel Ernst, confirmed that a murder case had been registered.

“It is alleged that the victim was in a physical fight with another man at about 5.30pm on Sunday, 11 February.

The victim allegedly sustained a head injury as a result of the assault, and fell to the ground. Later, the victim went to sleep, but he did not wake up this morning (12 February).”

She added, “The suspect is known and is currently on the run.”

The Randfontein detectives are investigating the matter and can be reached on 011 278 8100 should you have any information about the matter.
