The Bekkersdal Police have launched a manhunt for a balaclava-clad suspect in an armed robbery committed in the early hours of Sunday, 6 May.
“This incident took place at Tambo informal settlement at about 2.40am. It is alleged that the victims were awoken by the noise of someone pushing the door,” said Sergeant Linki Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson.
They investigated and noticed an unknown man wearing a balaclava inside the house. The man, who had a firearm, demanded cellphones and money, and later left on foot.

A case of house robbery was reported to the Bekkersdal Police and is under investigation. The suspect is still at large.
The Bekkersdal Police is appealing to the public to assist with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect. They also urge the public not to try and apprehend him, as he is deemed to be armed and dangerous.
