In the first edition of the 1987 The Herald reported that the 1986 festive season was quiet.
It’s Throwback Thursday and the Herald went back in time to 9 January 1987 to the very first edition of that year.
Looking at the archives, things looked much the same as today, while others changed dramatically. In this very first edition of 1987, the Heraldreported on the 1986 festive season.
On the front page, the Herald reported that the festive season was quiet, based on the Traffic Department’s report that only 33 road accidents had occurred.
As far as crime was concerned, the Herald reported that one person had been arrested for driving under the influence of liquor.
