LATEST on placements on learner admissions for the 2019 academic year. GDE gives one last chance ...
The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) has urged parents to note that placements offered will be forfeited at noon on Friday, 18 January 2019 if they are not taken up.
“All parents that were offered space must visit their children’s schools to urgently finalise the process,” said Steve Mabona, the GDE spokesperson.
In the latest update on learner admissions for the 2019 academic year, Steve confirmed the receipt of a total of 282 823 early applications during the admissions application period (16 April 2018 to 28 May 2018) and 37 826 late applications (28 November 2018 to date) for the 2019 academic year.
He added that this translates to a total of 320 649 applications (Grade 1: 172 205 and Grade 8: 148 444); and reflects an increase of 11 894 applications when compared to the total of 308 755 applications received by the fourth day of the 2018 academic year.

“It is important to note that the Department has complied with its obligation of ensuring that every child in Gauteng has been offered a space for learning. Parents are encouraged to send children to the schools which allocated them space accordingly.”
Help-desks at head office and district offices are available to assist parents on weekdays from 8am to 4pm as from Monday, 7 January to Friday 18 January.
