Westonaria Police have identified two suspects involved in targeting a scrapyard in Westonaria last week.
Sergeant Audrey Sefara, Westonaria Police spokesperson, said they are investigating a case of armed business robbery that took place at a scrapyard at about 7pm on Thursday, 10 January.
“The victim was at work when his colleague went outside to fetch tools and left the door open. When his colleague failed to return, he went outside and was confronted by two men,” she said.

They tied up his hands with wire and forced him into a room.

“While one of the suspects stayed with the victim, the other loaded the unknown stolen items into a bakkie and a truck. After some time, the suspects left, but there was still no sign of the colleague or his belongings,” Sefara added.
The victim pressed the panic button and a security company responded. He was able to assist in the compilation of identity kit pictures of the suspects.
The one suspect was described as having coffee-coloured skin and short black hair. He was short, chubby and between 31 and 35 years of age. He was wearing blue pants, safety boots, and a white hat. He was speaking Xhosa and Sotho.
The second suspect was described as dark-skinned with short black hair. The victim said that he was tall and slender and wore jeans and a jacket. He spoke broken Sotho and was armed with a firearm. He was also between 31 and 35 years old.
“The Westonaria Police would appreciate any information regarding these suspects. They can be contacted on the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111 or members of the public can SMS the Crime Line anonymously on 32211,” she concluded.
