Earth tremor felt near Randfontein
West Rand District Municipality confirms reports of an earth tremor near Randfontein and other parts of the West Rand early on Friday.
The West Rand District Municipality (WRDM) has confirmed reports of an earth tremor near Randfontein as well as other parts of the West Rand on Friday morning, 1 March.
Nico Kahts, manager of Emergency Management Services at the WRDM said that at this point there had not been any complaints about any damage as a result of the reported tremor.

“We are still investigating where the epicentre of the tremor was, but so far, we can not elaborate on the extent of the tremor,” he said.
Other social media users said tremors have occurred in the last 10 hours. One of the tremors was felt intensely in Soweto at about 7am.
