Funds raised for Just In Time
Fundraiser helps Just In Time give abandoned children a second chance in life.
Back 2 Worship, a non-profit organisation, held a fundraiser for Just In Time Baby Sanctuary at AGS Randgate on Saturday, 9 March.
The Herald has reported previously that the sanctuary, which is located in Greenhills, is in dire straits and needs financial support.
Quinten van Tonder, coordinator of the fundraiser and a member of Back 2 Worship said they heard about Just In Time’s financial struggles and took it upon themselves to host the event.
“After learning what Just In Time stands for, we realised that they were doing something important for the community. At the moment, they are looking after nine babies and they are not getting any financial support from the government or the Lotto, or anywhere else,” Quinten said.
Quinten added that the event went well and that people had donated formula milk, nappies and money. He said Just In Time was on board and was grateful for the initiative.
“Lots of people made financial contributions after the fundraiser. We hope that this will become a continuous source of support, because at the end of the day, they have nine children who could have ended up elsewhere, but they are giving them another chance in life.
“If it were not for Just In Time, these children could have died on the rubbish dump where some of them were abandoned by their parents. That is very sad, but it is the reality. So anyone who is helping is contributing to giving the children a second chance in life,” Quinten added.
