Dumile Sithole has been elected as the new Rand West City mayor.

Councillor Dumile Sithole has been appointed as the new Executive Mayor for the Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM) with effect from Wednesday, 23 May.

Tshidiso Thlaripe, the spokesperson for the municipality, said Sithole’s appointment followed the resignation of Mzi Khumalo, who has since been sworn in as a member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature.

Thlaripe added that Sithole was voted in unanimously by Council as the new mayor.

“RWCLM wishes to take this moment to convey its congratulations to Sithole as the new mayor. At the same time, the Council would like to congratulate the former Executive Mayor, councillor Mzi Khumalo, on his election as the Chief Whip of the ANC in the Gauteng Provincial Legistlature,” Thlaripe said.

Thlaripe also said the Council is confident that the two elected representatives will dedicate themselves to enhancing the delivery of services to the community.
