Herald’s clean-up campaign inspires WAWA

Women Against Women and Child Abuse recently took to the streets of Toekomsrus to clean up the town.

Women Against Women and Child Abuse (WAWA) has decided to start its own #HelpOurToekiesShineAgain campaign, and held its first clean-up in Diamond Street in Toekomsrus on Saturday, 15 June.

“Most of us were at Councillor Donovan Cloete’s funeral during the previous clean-up in Randfontein, so we decided to do our own clean-up,” Enrique Bhana of WAWA said.

WAWA will do a clean-up every two weeks and hopes to inspire other residents to join in.

“People walk by and see us cleaning the streets. Hopefully the whole community will help next time. We need to remember that cleanliness is next to Godliness.”

He said that rubbish and dirty sidewalks are a big problem in the community, which needs to be clean so that everybody can be proud of their neighbourhood.
