WANTED: Several armed and dangerous criminals

Local police have warned of several balaclava-clad suspects who are armed and dangerous and still on the loose following a house invasion and a business robbery.

The Bekkersdal Police have launched a manhunt for several armed and dangerous suspects who invaded a home and targeted a business in the area last week.

Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, the Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, said in both incidents the suspects fired shots at the victims before making their demands. Both incidents took place after 8pm on Thursday, 20 June.

“During the business robbery, they took an undisclosed amount of money as well as boxes of cigarettes and cellphones.”

She added that during the home invasion, they got away with a plasma TV and a number of cellphones, and fled on foot.

We are investigating a case of business robbery and house robbery, including two attempted murders.

“We are appealing to the community to assist with any information that could lead to the arrest of the culprits. We also want to warn the public not to try to apprehend the suspects as they are armed and dangerous,” Lefakane added.
