Covid-19 infections are continuing to spread and the confirmed cases in Rand West City, which forms part of the West Rand District Municipality, have now reached double figures.

According to the Gauteng Provincial Government’s latest report, Rand West City has 10 confirmed Covid-19 cases. Mogale City and Merafong City, which are also part of the West Rand District, have 30 and two cases respectively. There is one unallocated case in this District as well. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the West Rand District to 43.

In the neighbouring City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality Region C, which comprises Roodepoort, the number of confirmed cases stands at 54.

By Sunday, 26 April, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Gauteng stood at 1 331, with 868 recoveries and eight deaths. Currently 73 people are being treated for the virus in public and private hospitals in the province.
