Donate blankets to keep others warm

Toekomsrus Covid-19 feeding scheme group is collecting blankets and winter clothes for less fortunate people in Toekomsrus and Westergloor.

A blanket campaign has been launched to help the less fortunate in the Toekomsrus community stay warm this winter.

According to Oscar Oliphant, spokesperson of a Toekomsrus Covid-19 feeding scheme, they have been running a soup kitchen since Sunday, 19 April where people in need of blankets were identified.

We are asking those who can to donate blankets and winter clothes for boys, girls, men and women of any age. We will collect it on Saturday, 13 June,” he said.

“We know people who are needy. When we were doing the soup kitchen we realised that there is a bigger need than just for food. Most people in the community are unemployed, so we said we can’t just give them something to eat, we must help them stay warm as it’s winter season now,” he said.
