Another power outage this afternoon at 5pm

Parts of Rand West City to be hit by a power outage of at least four hours by this (Thursday) afternoon.

Parts of Rand West City will be without electricity as soon as this afternoon (25 June).

A portion of Helikon Park, Culemborg Park and Eike Park will be affected.

According to Alwyn van Tonder, councillor for Ward 3 (farming and rural areas), councillors have received notice from the municipality this morning that the power to the above areas will be switched off from 5pm to 9pm to reduce the load on one of the Eskom incomer circuit breakers.

Van Tonder again warned that all supply points should be considered live at all times.

In addition, residents should brace themselves for a power outage of more than eight hours tomorrow, Friday, 26 June, due to follow-up repairs at Drowel Substation.

At least 13 areas will be affected, including Bootha Plots, WIlbotsdal, Wheatlands, Elandsvlei, Oosterplotte, Greenhills, Helikon Park, Culemborg Park, Eikepark, a portion of Homelake, Randgate, Randpoort and Loumarina.
