Five out of five for Caxton West Rand
We could not find any faults or weakness in the distribution of newspapers in this region.
All four newspapers and one magazine at the Caxton West Rand branch received the thumbs up from the Audit Bureau of Circulations of South Africa. This is all thanks to Phillip Opperman, Caxton West Rand’s Distribution Manager and a Randfonteiner himself from Helikon Park.
In a letter addressed to Caxton Publishers & Printers Ltd on 23 June, the bureau said they performed the audit of the circulation data, in terms of a letter of engagement dated 11 April 2011, of the publications Get It (JHB West), Krugersdorp News, Randfontein Herald, Roodepoort Record and Roodepoort Northsider for the period October to December 2019, and January to March 2020.

The Audit Bureau of Circulations of South Africa made the following findings:
This section provides the audit observations, recommendations as well as the conclusion in respect of the audit performed. The findings are presented with respect to the filing and presentation of legal documentation and the verification of the distribution process. We found the filing and presentation of all invoices, distribution sheets standardised across all the regions and to be materially correct. The auditors can not accept any responsibility for any invoices, documents not presented during the audit process.
We could not find any faults or weakness in the distribution of newspapers in this region. Our audit report therefore concludes that no material errors and omissions were identified, and that the assertions made in the input forms are correct. In our opinion, pages 1 and 2 of the circulation certificate (which have been initialed by the ABC for identification purposes) meet in all material aspects, the requirements of the ABC Rules.
“We commend Phillip and everyone else on the distribution team, from the runners to the truck drivers and printers, for their extreme dedication week in and week out. To make sure members of the public get their newspaper at their doorstep is an enormous task, not to mention keeping track of admin work. Thank you to all concerned,” said Clinton Botha, editor of the Herald.
