Municipal employee tests positive for Covid-19 – main building closed

JUST IN: Municipality confirms employee tests positive for Covid-19, main building closed until 3 July.

The Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM) has given notice that its main office building will be closed until Thursday, 2 July.

Tshidiso Thlaripe, RWCLM spokesperson, confirmed to the Herald on Tuesday morning, 30 June, that the municipal manager notified the public of the closure on 29 June after an employee tested positive for Covid-19.

Only the main office building will be closed. All other municipal buildings will remain open for business,” he said.

“… the main office building will be closed effectively from 29 June to 2 July to enable protocols to be implemented, including sanitization and disinfection of the premises. The main office building will re-open on Friday, 3 July. We apologise for the inconvenience to the public,” the notice read.

According to Gauteng Provincial Government’s latest breakdown of Covid-19 cases as at 28 June, Rand West City has had a total of 488 Covid-19 cases and 112 recoveries. The latest statistics should be available later today.
