Respected Lenmed doctor passes away

Lenmed Randfontein Private Hospital mourns the loss of gynaecologist.

Family as well as Lenmed Randfontein Private Hospital sadly announced the passing of Dr CJ (Neels) Venter on Friday, 24 July.

Dr Venter is survived by his wife Sue, and three children.

“As we, the employees, doctors and management of Randfontein Private Hospital mourn his loss, we extend our condolences to his family and loved ones,” said Marietha van Vuuren, hospital manager.

She added that the life and achievements of Dr Venter are closely interwoven with the generations of families he served and became part of.

He was loved and respected by many, and was a gynaecologist of great ability, untiring passion, and boundless enthusiasm.”

Dr Venter was born in Benoni on 17 July 1943. In 1967 he obtained his BSc in Agriculture, majoring in Plant Pathology. He joined the South African Defence Force as a medical student in 1968 and obtained his MBChB degree in 1972. He completed his internship at 1 Military Hospital in 1973 and practiced as a general practitioner until June 1976. He obtained his degree in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 1980, and lectured part-time at the University of Pretoria.

Dr Venter ventured into private practice in 1991 and joined the Lenmed family at Randfontein Private Hospital in June 2018.
