More blankets, food for Fora

The fundraiser held at San Pedro Spur in Greenhills for Friends of Rescued Animals was a huge success.

Thanks to a very sweet and innovative fundraiser held on 25 July, the Friends of Rescued Animals (Fora) now has another 34 blankets and an additional 300kg of food for the animals in their care.

According to Liza Janse van Rensburg of Devine Crumbs, their drive-by fundraiser for Fora was a huge success.

“I’ve always wanted to do a project to help animals. I contacted Stephan Hendricks, a well-known animal lover in Randfontein and we organised this fundraiser in about two days.”

They held it in the parking lot of San Pedro Spur in Greenhills and supporters got a box of homemade cupcakes, sweet treats or rusks in exchange for a blanket, food, cleaning supplies or financial donations.

Volunteers showed up from everywhere and did their best to make people aware of the fundraiser. I want to thank Randfontein for their support.

“Besides the 300kg food, 34 blankets and loads of cleaning supplies, we also raised more than R1 500. I was overwhelmed to see how many animals are at Fora and I am sure this donation means a lot to them,” she added.

Liza and Stephan will soon be planning another project to help animals in the community.
