On Wednesday afternoon, the Department of Water and Sanitation confirmed in a statement that tomorrow, 6 August, the Minister of Human Settlements, Water and Sanitation, Lindiwe Sisulu will hand over the Randfontein Waste Water Treatment Works to the Rand West City Local Municipality after it has been upgraded.
Technically, the Treatment Works were non-operational, leading to the effluent being discharged, not complying with the department’s specifications and experiencing mechanical breakdowns due to ageing equipment.
