Riet Family Guidance Centre gets a helping hand
Lockdown didn't put a damper on the community's willingness to help non-profit organisations.
The Riet Family Guidance Centre was hit hard by the lockdown, but a local non-profit organisation, Cordial Relief, was there to help.
Desmond Kortje, marketing manager of Cordial Relief, said he and Dieudonne Mutabesha Luhule, founder and chairperson of Cordial Relief, got quite a few sponsors on board to help Riet during this time.
“We are thankful that people came on board to support Cordial Relief so that we could help the centre. Lockdown has been hard on everyone, and Riet was struggling to get food donations.
Thanks to our sponsors, the residents of Riet could have a warm meal.”
Some of their sponsors were once-off, but most of them have been helping throughout lockdown.
“We want to thank John Craig and Legit from Village Square Mall, as well as Albany, Pick and Save, Langano Warehouse, Uncle Harry’s, Butterfield and Checkers in Tambotie Mall for their very generous donations. It means a lot to us and to the residents of Riet,” Desmond added.
