Residents and businesses should brace themselves for a power outage of at least nine hours this Thursday, 27 August.
A notice from the Rand West City Local Municipality reads: “Notice is hereby given that the electrical supply will be disconnected to replace damaged control wires and current transformers (CTs) inside Drowel Substation. We apologise for the inconvenience.”
The areas to be affected include Greenhills, Randgate (all shops and garages), Randpoort, Eike Park, a portion of Helikon Park, Culemborg Park, a portion of Homelake, Wheatlands, Ooster-plotte, Elandsvlei, Bootha Plots, WIlbotsdal, Loumarina, Marina Plots, Afri Village, Jabulani and Tambotie Mall.
Residents are urged to treat their electricity supply points as live at all times as the supply may be restored at any time.
