WATCH: HWA Divas show their claws

Two Randfonteiners joins the Honour Wrestling Association Wrestling Divas.

The West Rand is now home to the darling but dangerous Honour Wrestling Association (HWA) Wrestling Divas, with two members hailing from Randfontein.

“Lockdown21 Casting, in partnership with HWA, introduced the first all-women wrestling team in South Africa in February 2020. They will perform alongside the well-known wrestlers across South Africa. The six Divas are currently making a name for themselves with various sponsors looking to back them. All these wrestlers are also fitness models and social media influencers.

Rachelle Steyn and Laetitia van Aswegen are from Randfontein, and the others are from all over Gauteng. Every weekend they train with their coach at the HWA Training Centre in Horison,” said their spokesperson, Andre Killian.

He said these ladies know how to put on a show and they are excited about performing at festivals around South Africa as soon as the Covid-19 lockdown regulations allow festivals to take place again.

“The divas are training very hard and they are very impressive in the ring. Their training is a bit different from the men’s because they focus a lot on footwork.

They are beautiful but tough, and can even take on male wrestlers without breaking a nail. Our doors are open for other ladies in the area to join these six Divas – it’s fun and it can open doors for you in the entertainment industry,” he added.
