Dad’s song pulls at the heartstrings

Toekies father releases new single titled 'Daddy's little girl' that speaks of the relationship between a father and his daughter.

Toekomsrus singer Angelo Vaaltyn said his new single titled Daddy’s Little Girl talks about the importance of good fathers in their daughters’ lives.

In the song Angelo expresses the love and bond that have to be nurtured between a father and his girl child – he does that while dispelling negative perceptions about fathers as not all of them are bad.

Some fathers, like me, had to fight for custody of our children. Yes, child support is important, but it’s the love and time we spend with our children that matter the most at the end of the day. Money is not everything,” Angelo said.

He added that the presence of a loving father figure is important for the development and growth of any child. However, he said the importance of a father in society has been diminished, adding that it is sometimes unnoticed and very often undermined.

With this project, Angelo hopes he will change people’s mindsets so that they realise how important fathers are.

“A father’s actions promote and reinforce the behaviour of children who look up to him, because they will emulate his actions,” Angelo added.

He said although mothers do play a significant role in bringing up children, women learn a lot about life from their father and how they respond to challenges they face. From an early age, daughters pick up on the way their fathers treat other women, more especially their mothers.

A father would exemplify what a future husband would be like. How a father treats a mother helps daughters learn how they should receive and give love, and most importantly, how they should expect to be loved and treated. In other words, fathers set the example of what a gentleman looks like.

“They also help daughters gain self-care and self-respect; they help to nurture their daughter’s self-esteem and shape her perception of beauty and body image, therefore being a father is one of the greatest honours and responsibilities with which God has entrusted men,” Angelo said.
