Three areas in Randfontein will be without electricity on Tuesday, 29 September between 9am and noon as tree branches will be cut in the area.
Alwyn van Tonder, councillor of Ward 3 (farming and rural areas) said Wheatlands, Ooster and Townlands will be without electricity as the Parks and Electricity Departments will be working together to trim certain branches as a preventative measure.
The problem is the overhanging branches, because when the wind blows them onto the power lines the transformers trip,” Van Tonder said.
He added that a number of problem areas were identified, and the two municipal departments will be working together to minimise the risk of power failures.
