Load reduction planned from 5pm – one area affected

Eskom has released a statement saying they will be implementing load reduction on Wednesday night – one local area will be affected.

Eskom has released a statement saying they will be implementing load reduction in certain areas today (14 October) from 5pm to 10pm.

In a statement from Eskom’s Communications and Stakeholder Management, Willian Mnune said this is in an effort to reduce network overloading in high density areas.

The areas that will be affected are Bekkersdal, Kagiso, Rietvallei and Sinqobile.

Customers are urged to switch off all their electrical appliances to avoid power surges when the power returns.

Failure to do so may lead to transformer trips or failures, and damage to household appliances when supply is restored,” said Mnune.

Eskom has asked community members not to log faults during this period and to report illegal connections to the Eskom Crime Line on 0800 111 27 222.
