Mohlakeng model follows in mom’s footsteps

“This is the first and largest online beauty contest I have ever taken part in”

Tumelo Lehloka, a young, beautiful model from Mohlakeng has decided to follow in her mother’s footsteps.

The 23-year-old graduate in Psychology stands a chance to become Miss Empress South Africa and she wants to make her mother, Lebogang Lehloka, who was crowned Miss Mohlakeng in 1994, very proud.

“My mother introduced me to modelling when I was young. She too was passionate about it and I thought, why not make her proud by carrying the baton?” Tumelo said.

Tumelo said however, she decided to do something different and hopefully inspire others in the process.

She chose to enter the Miss Empress South Africa competition because it’s a combination of beauty and brains with a purpose – not just showing off a nice figure on the runway.

“This is the first and largest online beauty contest I have ever taken part in,” she said.

Tumelo said through this competition, she will get an opportunity to attend workshops to learn how to resolve peoples’ challenges using a variety of social media tools; a big part of it is to help others develop personal brands.

“The other chance I get through this is to advocate for mental health and women empowerment,” Tumelo added.
