Rem start the new academic year

Randfontein Primary School deputy principal said they were well prepared to get their learners, especially the new Grade 1s, settled in.

Management of Randfontein Primary School (Rem) welcomed their learners for the new school year recently and reassured parents that it’s all systems go.

Bernadette Eloff, deputy principal of Rem said staff members had been busy in the days and weeks leading up to the start of the school year, and they were well prepared to get their learners, especially the new Grade 1s, settled in.

She said complying with Covid-19 protocols was also a priority for learners and all staff members.

It has been such a long wait since we last had the learners at school, but we’re glad that everything is in place. Complying with Covid-19 protocols is of utmost importance,” Eloff said.

She went on to say learners and staff have prioritised maintaining a social distance of at least 1,5 metres, and the school has scheduled alternative groups to attend lessons.

“We have dots where the children stand to keep their distance, and have installed sanitizing stations. We make sure that temperatures are taken twice a day, so we are equipped with everything to keep everyone safe.

At the end of the day, we are just carrying on like last year. Learners are set to do some work at home but we’re pushing for more to be done in the classroom than the previous year,” Eloff said.
