Man found dead on R28: Family sought

Local police hope relatives and witnesses will come forward to help identify a man whose body was found on the R28 near Donaldson Dam recently.

Bekkersdal Police urge the community to help them locate the family of a man who was found dead on the R28 near Donaldson Dam on May 30.

Bekkersdal Police spokesperson Sergeant Linkie Lefakane said the deceased, who is believed to be 35 years old, was found lying in the middle of the road with no visible injuries.

“He was wearing a white rosary necklace, black jacket, maroon jersey and a grey trousers. He is dark in complexion, of medium build and has a beard. He also has scars on his right cheek and next to his right ear,” Sergeant Lefakane described.

She added the exact cause of his death is still being investigated.

“Anyone with information may contact the investigating officer, Warrant Officer Calvin Mojapelo on 011 7534067; alternatively visit the Carletonville Government Mortuary for identification,” Lefakane said.
