The House of Golden Oldies in Randgate is in desperate need of donations following an outbreak of Covid-19 at their home.
Marilize Berrington, owner of the home said they need linen, blankets, sanitizers and PPE clothing. They also need heaters, not just because of winter but also to get the house warm to try to stop the spread of infections.
“Currently we have approximately 26 cases at the home, and visiting hours have been suspended until everything is under control again.”
Isabel Tamela, social worker at House of Golden Oldies explained that they need as much help as possible. She added that all sheets are changed daily and they try to sanitize as much as they can.
“We are trying to manage and be there for one another because as much as it drains you physically, it is also emotionally draining for everyone. This week has been difficult because we can feel that the third wave is here.”
Isabel added that they are currently trying to manage the situation as best they can. All their residents get vitamins daily and they make sure that they stay hydrated.
