Driver sustains minor injuries when truck jackknifes

'It is alleged truck driver lost control' — Regional Commander of the Randfontein Fire and Rescue Services.

The driver of the truck that jackknifed through the Greenhills Cemetery perimeter wall on Noord Road on Friday morning, August 27 sustained only minor injuries.

Bennie Mohlabeng, Regional Commander of the Randfontein Fire and Rescue Services confirmed the incident and said it happened at approximately 07:46 on Friday morning, August 27.

“It is alleged that the truck driver lost control and bumped into the graveyard wall,” said Mohlabeng.

The driver refused to be transported to hospital.

According to Mohlabeng the nature of the cargo the truck was carrying is yet to be established.

The Fire Department closed the road temporarily, and Mohlabeng confirmed that it was reopened at approximately 12:40.
