Eight-hour power interruption in various areas on Sunday

Large areas of Rand West City will experience a power interruption of at least eight hours this Sunday, April 3.

The Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM) has announced that power will be interrupted due to critical maintenance to be done on the substation in Aureus on Sunday, April 3.

According to RWCLM spokesperson Phillip Montshiwa, electricity will be disconnected between 08:00 to 16:00 which will affect several areas.

Eskom has notified the RWCLM that they require a shutdown at the municipal substation to do critical maintenance work on their side of the substation,” Montshiwa said.

The following area will be affected: Nola, Aranda, Aureus Ext 1, Oasis and Orion, Parts of Randfontein between 1st Street and 6th Street, Station Mall, shops opposite Station Mall, Spar on Main Reef Road and Westergloor.

“All electrical installations and apparatus must be treated as being live at all times. We apologise for the inconvenience,” Montshiwa said.
