The 30-year-old Pfunzo was born and bred in Mulima, a small town in Limpopo, where he said he realised that the world was his oyster, and that he was not your average artist.

In an interview with the Herald, the proud Pfunzo said he’s not only an artist, but a qualified public relations officer, a sports administrator, a drama facilitator and even an actor.

“I’m also a gospel music composer, writer and producer; I’ve discovered all this since the tender age of five,” he added.

Pfunzo said he started his journey at a young age, and would use a bottle as a microphone to mock-sing, only to discover his love for music was deeply embedded.

“I also sang in church during Sunday School and this is where I was able to hone my singing and song-writing skills.

“In 2015 I started to write songs. I wrote a song called I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

“I wanted to give a message of hope to everyone out there that everything is possible with God. Some of my songs are titled How wonderful is your name; Shumaninisaneti; Ndirendavhone; My God is good; Thank you Jesus; and NdiyavhafunaYesu,” he said.

At the Mogale City Awards Pfunzo was named Best Male Gospel Artist in 2021.

“I’ve travelled and sung around the world; I performed at the Harare Sports City Stadium and had an opportunity to rub shoulders with greats in the gospel industry such as Rofhiwa Manyaga, Pretty Khoza, Takie Ndou, Minister Lombard Matshinge Psalmist, and Khathu Khedzi amongst many others.

Currently Minister Pfunzo is developing the talents of young people on the West Rand through sports, acting and music under his organisation called Vhutshilophanda Project.

“The way you see yourself is how far you can go. Don’t give up, keep on trusting God,” he said.
