Two shot dead after walking from shop in Westonaria

Two people aged 20 and 25 were shot dead in Westonaria on Tuesday.

Police are investigating a double murder after two people were shot dead in Westonaria on Tuesday, July 12.

Westonaria Police Station spokesperson Sergeant Audrey Sefara explained the victims were among a group of five men walking from a spaza shop on Bridges Avenue, Westonaria towards Libanon dumping site at about 16:30 when an unknown man approached them and pulled out a firearm from his trousers.

The frightened victims ran into the veld.

In the veld, the victims came across another armed person and the two armed attackers started shooting at them and ran off.

“Two victims aged 20 and 25 sustained multiple gunshot wounds. They were declared dead by emergency service personnel and transported to the Carletonville Mortuary. The motive for the shooting is currently unknown.”
